Pre-Kindergarten
The Greater Johnstown School District Universal
Pre-kindergarten program is accepting
applications for the 2013-2014 school year for children
residing in the district who will turn four years old on or before December 1, 2013.
This program does not require income eligibility.
If more than 72 applications are received for the
2013-14 Johnstown School District program, a lottery
will be held in June to determine enrollment for
September, as required by the State Education
Department. Students not selected in the June lottery
process are placed on waiting list, based on the date
their application was received, to be contacted in the
event a slot opens during the course of the school year.
Important Influenza Information from the NYS Dept. of
Health
New
York State Public Health Law Section 613 requires that
schools post influenza educational material. Parents and
caregivers are encouraged to refer to the
NYSDOH Seasonal Flu Guide for Parents,
or visit the
NYS Dept of Health web site.
New
York State Report Cards
Each spring, the New York State Department of Education
releases various statistics and information about NYS
school districts (e.g., enrollment figures; annual
results on Regents examinations, Regents Competency
Tests and ELA, math and science state test results,
etc.) from the previous school year, to help to keep the
public informed about the performance of public schools.

Local Government Financial Data Available Online
The New York State Comptroller's Office makes local government financial data
available through their
Open Book New York Web site. The site contains
revenue and spending data for more than 3,100 counties,
cities, towns, villages, schools and fire districts
dating back to 1996 and is intended to be updated quarterly.
The data is from local government financial reports
filed with the Division of Local Government and School
Accountability.
