The Greater Johnstown School District will host a swim program this summer giving community members of all ages the opportunity to use the indoor Olympic size pool at the Johnstown High School (1 Sir Bills Circle, Johnstown, NY 12095) with lifeguard supervision.
Beginning Monday, July 8, the pool will be open to the public from 10 a.m. – noon, Mondays through Thursdays. The program runs through Thursday, August 15. No pre-registration is required and there is no fee to participate. Participants should park near the tennis courts and use the rear entrance by the bus circle.
Children 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult who is 18 or older. Toddlers must wear protective swimming diapers in the pool. Participants are allowed to bring personal swimming aides (devices intended to help you stay afloat and swim). Pool floats are prohibited.
“Our winter swim program was well attended by members of our community and the District is pleased to also offer free access to our beautiful pool during the height of summer,” Superintendent of Schools Dr. William Crankshaw said.
“Fulton County – the ‘Land of 44 Lakes’ – provides many opportunities for residents to enjoy the great outdoors on the water through swimming, kayaking, and boating on its beautiful lakes,” he added. “We hope that our summer program provides swimmers of all ages the opportunity to learn and gain more confidence in the water in a supervised setting, so that they can fully enjoy all our area has to offer.”
