Dear GJSD Families,
It may seem like summer has just started, but before we know it, the 2023-24 school year will be starting and our school buildings will be bustling with activity once again. We are excited to welcome our staff and students back to school on Wednesday, September 6.
The District has undergone a grade level reconfiguration for this upcoming year. We encourage you to read the details laid out below, with dates for the first day of school, supply drop-offs, and open houses for each grade level and each building.
Of note, Mr. Robert Kraemer is now the principal of the newly reconfigured Knox Middle School (grades 5-7) and Dr. Matthew Lewis, former assistant principal of the Jr.-Sr. High School, has been named principal of Warren Street Elementary School (grades 2-4). Mrs. Cory Cotter and Mr. Scott Hale remain principals in their respective buildings.
At the bottom of this communication, you will find a link to our District website that lists suggested school supplies for each grade level. School supply drop-off is a wonderful way to check out your child’s school building, prior to their first day of school. This exercise is particularly important for any students who may be feeling anxious or nervous about transitioning into a new school building next year. Our principals and secretaries will also be present during supply drop-off events, providing families the opportunity to introduce themselves and say hello face-to-face.
We will continue to communicate information about school schedules, food services, and transportation, as soon as it becomes available. As always, we welcome any questions you may have about the coming school year. Each building principal’s email address and building phone number is listed below. Do not hesitate to reach out.
