Congratulations to GJSD seniors Sam Stearns and Michael Crisafulli Jr., and sophomore Mariia Ganzharina on being selected to participate in the prestigious Hartwick Honor Band, which will present a free concert at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 21 in the Anderson Center for the Arts on the Hartwick College campus.

Students were selected based on their NYSSMA scores and teacher recommendations.

According to HS band teacher Andy LaCoppola, Johnstown has previously had students selected for the annual honor band, “but never three!”

Students will spend the day working with guest conductor Matthew Marsit and host Assistant Professor of Music Andy Pease, along with the rest of Hartwick’s distinguished instrumental music faculty and the members of the Hartwick Wind Ensemble. The day will culminate in a live free concert at 5:30 p.m. from the Anderson Center for the Arts.
