Traffic patterns and parking may be disrupted through end of summer

Work has started on a new multi-purpose outdoor Instructional area at Johnstown High School that will include three pickleball courts and two refurbished basketball courts. The overhaul is part of the capital improvement project that was approved by voters in November of 2022.
Work is expected to last throughout the summer in order to have the new space ready for the start of the new school year. Once work is completed, the space will serve as an outdoor instructional area for P.E. classes and other activities for students at both the Warren Street Elementary School and Johnstown High School. It will also be available for public use while school is not in session.
Work will also soon begin to formalize a safe bus loop for drop-off and pick-up of elementary students within the existing parking lot adjacent to the courts from the Warren Street side. Sidewalks leading to Warren Street Elementary School will be installed, and drainage will be improved around the Wright Drive and parking areas. As a result, there will be times this summer where parking may be redirected to other areas of the school campus.
Superintendent William Crankshaw noted, “We are very excited to begin this work that will provide a safe, valuable, updated resource for our instructional programs and our community. As we continue work through the summer, please be mindful of the posted signs, blocked areas and altered traffic patterns when visiting the school, to ensure that we keep our students, staff and community safe.”
